(a) Sanctuary Visual Entertainment, UK
Collectors edition DVD
[Note: "Commentary Track with Stephen Jones and Kim Newman—Recorded at Sanctuary's London studios, this incredibly detailed commentary covers every aspect of the film including the background, on-set stories, cast and crew info . . . By the end of the film, if you haven't heard it from Stephen and Kim—it probably isn't worth knowing!"]
An intensely powerful prequel to the 1979 hit, The Amityville Horror, Amityville II: The Possession is based on
the book Murder in Amityville and is presented here as an unmissible Collector's Edition DVD. With an
outstanding new 2.35:1 widescreen picture and newly remastered 5.1 surround sound, the horror has never
looked or sounded so spine-chillingly real. Amityville II tells the "true" story of the Montelli's, a
dysfunctional Catholic family who arrive in the Amityville house years before the Lutz's of the first film. Sonny, the eldest son, is horrifically possessed by a sinister supernatural presence rising up from a secret basement room. Instructed by a voice through his Walkman, Sonny seduces his younger sister before brutally slaughtering his family. Local priest, Father Adamski, tries to rescue Sonny's soul and returns to the sinister Amityville house to face the demon . . .

"The bonus features contained here are where this DVD really begins to take off in the right direction. You get everything from lobby cards and a booklet detailing certain aspects of the film's production and release, to an excellent commentary track with movie critics Kim Newman and Stephen Jones. This track is fun to listen to, and is very informative—essential listening for everyone who buys this edition."
