Stephen
Jones has announced that he is now reading for the fifteenth volume of THE
MAMMOTH BOOK OF BEST NEW HORROR, which will be published
as a trade paperback in the UK by Robinson and in the USA by Carroll & Graf
in 2004.
This
is a REPRINT anthology. He is looking for horror and dark fantasy stories
and novellas, either supernatural or psychological, which were FIRST PUBLISHED
between December 2002 and December 2003. Electronic publication is acceptable,
but all submissions should be either in manuscript, galley or photocopy format.
No e-mail submissions.
Space
in the book is obviously limited and the competition is tough, so only the
most exemplary fiction will be chosen. Do not send multiple submissions, only
what you consider your best work. Even if you think it
may have already been seen by the editor, if in doubt send another copy anyway.
Include
a brief covering letter with your name and address, giving your bio/bibliographical
information and details of publication. Also include an e-mail address if
you want to be notified when the book is full. All material received will
be considered disposable. The deadline for receiving stories is February
1st, 2004. You will be contacted after that date if your story has been accepted.
Payment is on publication.
THE
MAMMOTH BOOK OF BEST NEW HORROR also includes an extensive annual overview
of the previous year in horror. To be aware of material published (especially
from the small press), the editor needs to have seen it. This
includes novels, collections, anthologies, poetry, art books, reference works,
magazines and chapbooks covering fiction, non-fiction and films. All appropriate
titles received will get a mention in the "Introduction",
and
publishers may also be listed in the book's "Useful Addresses" section.
All

THE
