Not only was he one of the
Guests of Honor at the 28th World Fantasy
Covention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but on November 3rd (the day before
his 49th birthday) STEPHEN JONES (far left, back row) also won the WORLD
FANTASY AWARD: SPECIAL AWARD, PROFESSIONAL for editing. It was Jones's
third World Fantasy Award win, and he tied in the Professional category
with fellow Brit Jo Fletcher (centre front, in wheelchair), who won for
editing the Fantasy Masterworks series from Gollancz.

THE
MAMMOTH BOOK OF BEST NEW HORROR VOLUME TWELVE edited by Stephen Jones won the
2002 British Fantasy Award for Best Anthology, presented at the annual FantasyCon
2002 in London on September 21st.
Published
by Robinson in the UK and Carroll & Graf in the USA, this is the third occasion
that the annual BEST NEW HORROR series has won the award, voted for by members
of The British Fantasy Society.
Simon
Clark won The August Derleth Fantasy Award for his novel THE NIGHT OF THE TRIFFIDS,
Best Collection was AFTERSHOCKS by Paul Finch, Simon Clark also won Best Short
Fiction for his story 'Goblin City Lights' (in URBAN GOTHIC), Best Artist was
Jim Burns, and Best Small Press was Peter Crowther's PS Publishing for the second
year running.
The
winners were announced by Stephen Gallagher and FantasyCon Guest of Honour Graham
Joyce.
THE
MAMMOTH BOOK OF BEST NEW HORROR VOLUME THIRTEEN will be published in October
with stories by Poppy Z. Brite, Ramsey Campbell, Christopher Fowler, Muriel
Gray, Graham Joyce, Tanith Lee, Thomas Ligotti, Paul J.
McAuley and many others.
Building upon the success of their collaboration on THE DEAD ZONE DVD
earlier this year, STEPHEN JONES and KIM NEWMAN have recorded critical audio
commentaries for the DVDs of HALLOWEEN II (1981) and HALLOWEEN III
SEASON OF THE WITCH (1982).
Both
commentaries should appear on Anchor Bay's new HALLOWEEN boxed set, and—along
with background essays and selected filmographies written by Jones—will also
be included on Sanctuary's individual DVD releases of
these titles in the U.K.

STEPHEN JONES and DAVID SUTTON have delivered the anthology DARK TERRORS
6: THE GOLLANCZ BOOK OF HORROR to Jo Fletcher at Gollancz/Orion for publication
in October. This latest 200,000-word hardcover volume in the award-winning series
includes original stories by Mick Garris, Ramsey Campbell, Christopher Fowler,
Graham Masterton, Tanith Lee, Stephen Baxter, Michael Marshall Smith, Kim Newman,
Les Daniels, Tim Lebbon and 23 others.
STEPHEN JONES has also delivered THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF BEST NEW HORROR
VOLUME THIRTEEN to Krystyna Green at Robinson Publishing. The 225,000-word
"Year's Best" anthology features a selection of the best horror stories and
novellas of 2001 by Ramsey Campbell, Poppy Z. Brite, Muriel Gray, Elizabeth
Hand, Dennis Etchison, Charles Grant, Paul McAuley, Graham Joyce, Glen Hirshberg,
Kelly Link and 13 others, along with a 28,000-word overview of the year in horror,
a detailed Necrology and a listing of useful addresses for writers and readers.
This latest trade paperback edition of the award-winning series will be published
by Robinson in October and Carroll & Graf in November.
STEPHEN JONES has also delivered KEEP OUT THE NIGHT to Peter Crowther
at PS Publishing. This limited edition hardcover anthology boasts fiction from
Hugh B. Cave, Neil Gaiman, Brian Lumley, Ramsey Campbell, Poppy Z. Brite,

second volume, BY MOONLIGHT ONLY, which will also be edited by Jones
and is due for publication sometime in 2003.
